Problem Statement

A global webscaler with around 29 regions across the globe was looking for ways to expand its presence in the Middle East which was still not covered. The customer wanted a solution to provide direct access from the Middle East to its global regions. The customer had been established in the region for a long period and had two major network nodes deployed in the region.

Solution Implemented

ARC worked with the customer to assess the potential in the region.. Considering commercial, technical, legal, and regulatory aspects associated with hosting the node and the connectivity to support it, ARC consulted the customer on where to deploy in order to achieve the optimum business result.

ARC and the customer evaluated various datacenters in the region and finally narrowed in on the datamena transit-zone in Dubai, UAE. Datamena is a “transit-zone” concept operated around a datacenter operated under an alliance between Equinix and the UAE telco du, Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company. The datacenter has a rich ecosystem of tenants, affordable access connectivity which aligned with the business requirements while being a highly secure and reliable datacenter to meet the technical requirements.

Second challenge was to determine the best solution for the high bandwidth connectivity to connect the access node to the Customer’s network nodes in the region. With the technical requirements, ARC leveraged its expansive supplier and partner portfolio to negotiate a commercially and technically feasible solution.

Once decided on the full solution ARC acted as a one-stop-shop for the Customer and dealt with all the contractual and commercial negotiation with the underlying partners to offer the Customer a full end-to-end solution.

Benefit For Customer

ARC managed to help the customer in three main areas:
1.Limit uncertainty: In a relatively fragmented market that is regulatory complex, the Customer was able to leverage ARC’s local knowledge and experience in the region to overcome some of the ambiguities the Customer had faced in assessing the right solution for the deployment.
2.Time To Market: ARC took the complex project from order to ready for service in under 2 month , which in normal circumstances would be a 3 months
3.One Contract: Customer were not faced with the time and resource intensive work to negotiate and conclude contracts with multiple service providers
