19 October 2021

Espoo, Finland – Nokia today announced it has been selected as the prime supplier by ARC Solutions to provide a high-capacity data center interconnection solution in the Middle East. The initial deployment, covering four major business locations, was deployed in a record time of six months to meet increasing traffic demands from ARC customers in the region.

ARC, a joint venture between UAE’s du and Bahrain’s Batelco, has deployed Nokia IP and optical solutions to provide high-capacity connectivity between SmartHub (UAE), datamena (UAE), GlobalZone (Bahrain) and Muscat MC1 (Oman). Network-centric organizations are able to benefit from seamless high-speed interconnection with a growing ecosystem of ICT platforms across the region, including local network providers, cloud providers and internet exchange platforms.

Mahesh Jaishankar, CEO of ARC, said: “The Nokia solution gives us the ability to offer our customers rich, reliable and secure connectivity over a purpose-built platform between all key Middle East data center locations. As a focused middle-mile network service provider, ARC is building a robust, resilient and flexible pan-regional data center interconnect network that will allow customers to connect their last mile solutions to the cloud and other service providers. The initial deployment across four key locations in the region was completed in record time with Nokia’s help during the period of COVID travel restrictions and supply chain challenges.”

Manuel Ortiz Fernandez, Senior Vice President of EMEA Webscale business at Nokia, said: “ARC has broad knowledge and deep experience serving some of the largest and most dynamic businesses in the Middle East. We are pleased that ARC has chosen to deploy our industry-leading IP/optical solution to bring high speed data center connectivity to its customers in the region.”

Customers can interconnect over Arc’s pan-regional platform to access hyperscalers, cloud and content providers, enterprises and carriers across the Middle East

Dubai, UAE, 18 October 2021 – Arc Solutions has expanded its network footprint to Oman with presence in Equinix’s International Business Exchange™(IBX®) data center in Muscat. The expansion enables Arc to extend its flexible network-as-a-service solutions to a wider pool of local and global customers.

Arc’s presence in Oman is part of its regional expansion efforts to give its customers scalable solutions for growing across the Middle East. Oman has established itself as a significant communications hub in the Middle East, evident in the recently announced 2Africa submarine cable and the 9,800km Oman Australia Cable. Its deployment in Oman comes on the back of recently established SDN nodes in UAE as well as Bahrain. Customers can rapidly roll out new applications and services across Oman and beyond with a simple and seamless model.

Equinix’s Muscat IBX data center (MC1) and Internet Exchange are strategically located in the heart of the digital ecosystem connecting Asia, Africa and Europe. This confluence of cable systems with carrier-neutral colocation, interconnection and peering has accelerated the growth of digital corridors linked with Oman during the four years 2016-2020.

“Working with partners in the Middle East is the foundation of our ability to deliver leading ICT solutions across the region and beyond. We are excited to be working closely with the Equinix team to enable accelerated innovation in the Middle East,” said Mahesh Jaishankar, CEO at Arc. “Arc is always keeping track of changing demands in the region directing our expansion to locations where we see a strong future demand. We look forward to continuing to bring a multitude of new opportunities to customers in the region through our ongoing expansion.”

Equinix provides interconnection for industry-leading organisations across verticals including finance, manufacturing, mobility, transportation, government, healthcare and education in a cloud-first world. Earlier this year, Arc became part of the Equinix reseller and partner programme, enabling it to combine its connectivity solutions with access to Equinix’s rich ecosystem of over 1,800+ network providers, 2,900+ cloud providers and 10,000+ customers across 225+ data centers.

“Equinix is committed to providing our partners and customers with a platform that enables them to rapidly scale their infrastructure, reach and connectivity on their digital transformation journeys,” said Kamel Al-Tawil, Managing Director, Middle East and North Africa, Equinix. “Arc joins a growing list of Network, Cloud and Content service providers that are choosing Oman as they expand and unlock opportunities in the Middle East region, increasing their digital presence and interconnecting with important locations, cloud services and data that matter most to their businesses” he added.

Arc is utilising the growing opportunities in partnering with like-minded service providers to develop a gateway to the region’s evolving ecosystem, simplifying access to service providers and partners across the Middle East. Arc’s vision is a highly interconnected Middle Eastern market that accelerates how network-centric businesses optimise, grow and innovate in cloud, content and communications.

Dubai, UAE, 17 August 2021 – Arc Solutions has expanded its network to Bahrain in the digital business platform Global Zone, following its vision to provide seamless access to growing connectivity and commercial hubs across the Middle East. Arc’s presence in Global Zone gives its local and global customers flexible and scalable colocation, connectivity and interconnection solutions in a key regional market.

The expansion in Bahrain follows the launch of Arc’s software-defined networking (SDN) nodes in datamena and Etisalat SmartHub data centres in June 2021. Arc’s customers can now connect to datamena and SmartHub in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Global Zone in Bahrain, with a single provider and contract. Arc’s roadmap includes further expansion across the Middle East planned for the latter half of 2021, with plans for over 20 locations in the region over the next three years.

“Our customers can rapidly roll out new applications and services across key digital hubs with a simple and seamless model. As more hubs come online, we’re delivering the solutions that remove the barriers to innovation across the Middle East and empowering customers with rapid access to connectivity and data centre services,” said Mahesh Jaishankar, CEO at Arc. “Our presence in Global Zone is another milestone on our journey and brings us closer to achieving our vision for a hyperconnected intra-regional connectivity platform.”

Global Zone is a carrier-neutral digital business platform based in a highly secured Tier III data centre in Bahrain. It offers terrestrial and subsea cable access services, IP Transit and global Ethernet, in addition to colocation and interconnection solutions. In April 2019, Batelco partnered with Amsterdam Internet Exchange (AMS-IX) to introduce Manama Internet Exchange (MN-IX) within Global Zone. Customers can peer and exchange traffic in a secure environment.

“We welcome Arc to Global Zone and look forward to enabling its customers to connect and grow in new markets. It is great to support a business with a unique vision for the market and ambitious plans for connecting the region. Together, we can support digital innovation and growth in the Middle East,” said Hani Askar, A/General Manager at Batelco. “Global Zone is continually adding new partners and expanding its ecosystem. Arc’s presence adds new options and increased choice for carriers, cloud and content players, and enterprises active in Global Zone.”

Arc is simplifying intra-regional connectivity in the Middle East for carrier, cloud, content and major enterprises. Its intelligent regional network is designed to give customers rapid access to a rich ecosystem of networks and data centres across the region. Intra-regional connectivity can be complex and involves managing numerous service providers, navigating distinctive legal and regulatory frameworks, and aligning product and service characteristics to deliver a seamless customer experience. Arc is removing these complexities to provide rapid access to the connectivity and infrastructure that organisations need.
